I admit that I am a big fan of “The Lord of the Rings” books. I enjoyed the movies, too.

While doing a Google search on another item, I ran across this music video:

Very funny.

Or at least a sizable chunk of it, if this asteroid had connected with the earth.

Thinking back to my post on risk, I don’t know why we spend so few resources, comparatively speaking, on massively destructive – but admittedly low probability- events like an asteroid strike.

It strikes me that there should be some sort of well-funded and even high-profile agency that tries to prepare for events like these. Maybe there is, and I just don’t know about it – or, not to sound overly conspiratorial, no one tells us.

What other kinds of events do you think would be supervised by an agency like this?
