So, a Pew Research Center poll out today seems to show Trump pulling ahead. Another from NPR/PBS/Marist has it at dead even. The battleground states – which are absolutely required to win the Electoral College – don’t look nearly as good for Biden, but hey, anything can happen. He could still win.
Should he do so, sadly for the republic, we should expect violence.
It’s extremely likely that the election will be as close as the last two. Trump exploited that fact to concoct his entire effort to cast doubt on the election results, to run a months-long campaign to avoid ending his presidency, and ultimately to gin up an attack on the Capitol to hold on to office, sitting on his hands that day while it occurred.
For the first time in U.S. history, we did not have a peaceful transfer of power.
I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t do all of this over again.
